Ricardo TREVIÑO
Following a career in the Mexican Government, in 2015 Mr. Treviño was appointed by the Mexican Senate as General Administrator of Customs after being nominated by the President of Mexico. In January 2018, Ricardo Treviño Chapa assumed office as elected Deputy Secretary General of the WCO and was re-elected in 2022 by the WCO Council. During his tenure he has driven important change in the Organization through the development and implementation of the Strategic Plans 2019-2022 and 2022-2025. He is responsible for the implementation of the WCO Strategic Plan by overseeing and coordinating efforts made by the Organization’s Directorates, particularly regarding the focus areas of Innovation and Technology, Green Customs and WCO Modernization. He is currently leading the process of drafting the Strategic Plan 2025- 2028 and he is actively contributing to the implementation of the WCO Modernization Plan, a process to reform WCO governance and accountability to adapt to current global realities and to emerging Customs needs.
