Pedro Gomes Estêvão is a distinguished professional with over 18years of experience in trade facilitation, regional integration, andinternational trade policy. Currently serving as the PrincipalProgram Officer, Trade Facilitation at the AfCFTA Secretariat since2022, he plays a crucial role in harmonizing customs proceduresand advancing trade facilitation initiatives across the Africancontinent.Prior to this, Pedro held key positions, including Senior TradeAdviser on the Trade Facilitation Program for the GIZ-supportedECOWAS Commission, and Director of Industry at the Ministry ofIndustry and Trade of Cape Verde. He has been instrumental inadvancing trade liberalization initiatives such as the ECOWASTrade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS) and has contributed to thedevelopment of e-certification systems and regional tradeagreements.Pedro holds a Master’s in African Regional Integration and aDegree in International Trade. He is multilingual, fluent inPortuguese, French and English. His technical expertise andleadership continue to shape Africa's trade policies, fosteringdeeper integration and economic growth.
